Athiradi - An enjoyable action comedy

The film stars Tovino Thomas , Basil Joseph , Riya Shibu , Shaan Rahman , Vineeth Sreenivasan , Vishnu Agastya and more. It is written and directed by debutant Arun Anirudhan. Tovino Thomas is excellent as Thotta Kuttan , his character and mannerisms are very different. Basil Joseph's performance as Samkutty may seem jarring and unimpressive at first , but the character soon finds its rhythm and he puts a convincing act as a lovable goof despite the fact that Basil is playing a character that is younger than his actual age. Riya Shibu as Swathy R. Krishna doesn't have much of a role and the chemistry between her and Basil doesn't really gel well. Shaan Rahman and Vineeth Sreenivasan excel in their roles. Vishnu Agastya does a fabulous job as Samkutty's brother Joseph Joppan especially during the emotional sequences. The story follows Samkutty's attempts to revive a banned college fest named "Arohan" but it hits a roadblock as he encounters a goon turned musician. The first half may get you skeptical and a bit worried about the second half but immediately after the interval , the film turns into a laugh riot and by the end , it leaves you satisfied. The editing by Chaman Chakko is top-notch. The music by Vishnu Vijay suits the film's mood. Overall - A energetic action comedy that gives you plenty of laughs.
