Eko - Fresh storytelling packed with powerful perfomances

The film stars Sandeep Pradeep , Vineeth , Narain , Saurabh Sachdeva and more. It is directed by Dinjith Ayyathan. Sandeep Pradeep does a matured and neat performance as Peeyos. Biana Momin does a phenomenal job as Mlaathi Chechi. Saurabh Sachdeva delivers a commendable perfomance as Kuriachan. Vineeth and Narain do their parts accordingly. Eko takes you into the beautiful but barely inhabited mountain ranges of Kaatukunnu , standing tall along the kerala- karnataka border. Within these ranges lies the mystery of Kuriachan. Atop of one of the mountains , far from other fellow humans , lives an elderly woman known as Mlaathi Chechi , the third wife of Kuriachan , whom he married and brought to Kerala from Malaysia. Living with her is Peeyos , a young caretaker hired by her sons who live far away. Their lives seem ordinary , though secluded : the breezy mountains , each other and the dogs. What Kaatukunnu lacks in human presence , it makes up for in dogs. Calling these dogs territorial would be a understatement , as they constantly monitor everything from each crack and crevice along the mountains. Besides Mlaathi and Peeyos and the dogs , the only presence in the mountains are the men who come looking for Kuriachan , who mysteriously goes missing , leads to a trail of cases and angry enemies on his tail. What happened to Kuriachan? Is he missing or did something unfortunate happen? what is the story behind Kuriachan's dogs? these questions unfold in the film. Cinematography by Bahul Ramesh is simply outstanding and captures everything from the serene mountain landscapes to the gritty sequences with the Canines. Music by Mujeeb Majeed is fantastic and enhances the experience of the film. Bahul Ramesh has also done a fabulous job as the writer giving each character importance and proves his skill in the climax reveal , which is unexpected. Overall - A unique and thought provoking film.
