Patriot - A convoluted spy thriller

The film stars Mammootty , Mohanlal , Nayanthara , Revathy , Kunchako Boban , Darshana Rajendran , Fahadh Faasil and more. The film is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. Mammootty is excellent as Dr. Daniel James. Mohanlal is wonderful as Colonel Rahim Naik , but he is more of an extended cameo in the film. Nayanthara and Revathy do their parts well. Kunchako Boban and Darshana Rajendran have done a great job. Fahadh Faasil as Shakti Sundaram has done a performance that is not upto the mark. The story follows a top government official that uncovers the lid on a mass surveillance system involving a union minister , he is forced to go on the run. The concept is visionary but the sloppy writing and the execution is where the film falters. Music by Sushin Shyam suits the film's tone. Cinematography by Manush Nandan is top notch. Overall - A intriguing premise ruined by weak writing.
