Retro - Karthik Subbaraj's social commentary can't save this half baked action drama.

The film stars Suriya , Joju George , Jayaram , Pooja Hegde and more. It is directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Retro isn't a film that's boring or bad, it does have a message to convey but the sloppy direction doesn't allow it to shine. Suriya's acting is not upto the mark and though his character is meant to be stiff, the way he is acting seems to be overexxagerating the stiffness making his acting somewhat awkward. Pooja Hegde is brilliant but her character could have been utilized in a manner in a way that it dosen't seem cliched. Jayaram has a very sad role and all he does in the movie , is acting like a clown and too see such a great actor do this kind of role it is sad. Joju George has done a wonderful job. Nasser is irritating to the core. Music by Santosh Narayanan is the backbone of this film. Overall- A unusual mix of genres and sloppy execution leads to delaying the comeback of Suriya.
